Queen Teca: Maya and the Three
Queen Teca: Maya and the Three

I was responsible for surfacing and partial groom of Queen Teca for the animated series Maya and the Three. During production I was Senior Character Surfacing Artist as well as "Trainer". Training included workshops for Substance Painter and general art technique. I additionally assisted look development, tools training and shared responsibility with the Lead Character Artist, Nick Sinclair, providing notes and feedback before any characters went forward for review.

When I see Queen Teca on screen, my favourite part is her earrings. I used a jade material I created in Substance Designer during very, very early look dev for the project. It's a small accessory but incredibly satisfying to see them sparkle everytime.
.
The groom was a dual effort by myself and Rozemarijn Spanjaard. I did anything attached to her scalp; ie crown twist, bangs and sideburns as well as the two buns. Roze joined the team as a dedicated groomer just in time to tackle the much more complicated task of the large horn twists and giant braid. She's a hero.
